ABC CARPET LAUNCHES THE iSHONi RUG COLLECTION

New York, NY - November 28, 2008 - ABC Carpet and Home has collaborated with Swiss designer Manuela-Federica Krebser to introduce SHONi, an exclusive rug collection that takes influence from the convergence of African art and culture with the Western world.

"We are pleased to feature the work of Manuela Federica-Krebser," remarked Alex Kima, Vice President of ABC Carpet. "She is a design luminary with remarkable creative vision and talent." The iSHONi Collection aspires to convey the hope and spirit of Africa, and bridge the gap between Africa and the Western world. Krebser has created a somewhat unconventional pairing of Western design influences with African artistic elements to evolve a comprise of style that evokes the character of both worlds. "This collection is reflective of Krebser's extraordinary intellectual ability to blend contrasting aesthetics together to form harmonious works art," said Kimia. Krebser's elegant and contemporary collection features ornate decorative motifs complimented by dramatic tribal designs taking inspiration from African nature and art. Luxurious silk and wool in a rich and vibrant color palette was intricately handwoven by Tibetan artisans to create rugs with intriguing dimension and textural variations. Krebser's interest and compassion for African culture stems from the many years her family spent in the Hoggar area of Algeria.

Her explorations of this distant land have encouraged a deep appreciation for African art and culture that she has translated into the SHONi Collection for ABC Carpet & Home. Krebser's accomplished portfolio includes many years of experience in design and production of luxury and commercial fabrics, textiles, stationary, dishware, and rugs. She has earned numerous accolades for notable work with Rosenthal, Villeroy & Boch, Hutscheruther, and Langenthal Porcelain. In 1995, Krebser was commissioned by the Austrian Government to create the official dishware of the Austrian Millennium and in 1997 she formed her current company iSHONi. Manuela-Federica has worked to create her own stylistic language. She brings together one element after another in an order to finally reveal a suggestive rapport between different dimensions. The "zebra rule", as she calls it, is her inspiration The significance of the movements, the size of the shapes and the pattern on the zebra's coat all join up mathematically in a space. Krebser places enormous importance on creating harmony within various elements. Manuela Federica's works give birth to an interaction between herself and her art. She strongly believes that the more the expression of artwork touches the soul of its spectator, the more successful it will be. This attitude led her to build the brand Ishoni. In Japanese "iSHONi" means "together", a rich and decorative collection that comes in a variety of mediums such as textiles, silk, carpets and porcelain.

“Temperament Beauty's design company is responsible for the design"

For the beautiful piece of equipment, the "Heritage Power Separation Digital Analog Converter", ORPHEUS turned to the famous Swiss design firm iSHONi (Japanese pronunciation of "Together"). The owner of this company is a temperamental beauty Manuela Federica,  she has shown design talent in her teens, and launched the brand in 1991 under her own name. iSHONi company was established in 1996, specialising in the design of clothing, carpets, bathroom products, bedding, tableware and other soft products more inclined to women. I was surprised that Orpheus asked her to design hard-toned audio products. However, the graceful lines and slightly upturned edges of the Heritage-Line give a glimpse of the elegance of a female designer. Manuela Federica  is well known in the design world. If Manuela Federica can design multiple styles at the same time, then she is really something.

Designer Manuela Federica is active in a variety of fields, including interior accessories and fashion accessories. The name of her brand iSHONi is based on the concept of "high quality, high standards, and products that appeal to the heart," and derived from the Japanese word "together" as she has a deep knowledge of Japanese culture. Designs like i.e. VERDANA are one of iSHONi's masterpieces which combines dreams of heaven and water. The design PANJA is characterized by modernity and luxury that matches a blend of Japanese and Western styles while other designs mysteriously recreate the dream of the tale of the Thousand and One Nights. Mysticism, harmony is widely expressed by Manuela Federica.

Who designed the look of the Privilege collection? I don't know for sure! However, I know who designed Orpheus's other beautiful piece of equipment, the Heritage Power Separation Digital-to-Analog Converter, and they hired the famous Swiss design company iSHONi (Japanese pronunciation, meaning Together). The owner of this company is an elegant beauty Manuela Federica Krebser. She showed her design talent when she was a teenager. She launched a brand under her own name in 1991 and founded iSHONi in 1996. She specializes in designing soft products that tend to be more feminine, such as clothing, carpets, bathroom products, bedding, tableware, etc.

I am surprised that Orpheus found her to design hard-tuned audio products. However, Herritage's graceful lines and slightly upturned edges give a glimpse into the elegant temperament of a female designer. Manuela Federica Krebser is quite famous in the design world, and her mother Federica De Cesco (born in 1938) is even more famous in Europe.  Could the Privilege series also be designed by iSHONi? Judging by the fact that Heritage's elegant exterior style is completely different from the heaviness of Privilege, it's hard to believe it was created by the same designer.
